We’re In!

March 15th, 2010 by Andrea No comments »

We have finally moved in! We’ve made lots of progress since I’ve posted last – slowly but surely. There is still work to be done, so please mind the mess in the pictures. Enjoy!

We’re adding on!

Geothermal

October 14th, 2009 by Andrea No comments »

We had a geothermal heating and cooling system installed in the foundation under our parking lot to use the earth’s natural energy to heat and cool the building. Midwest Geothermal did an excellent job! They installed a “closed loop vertical system” in order to use less land. For more info, you can visit their website: http://mwgeothermal.com/.

The Neighborhood

This will be our new neighborhood. It might take some getting used to compared to being in the middle of downtown, but I think we’ll warm up to it quickly.

Brick Pavers

September 23rd, 2009 by Andrea No comments »

After beginning to demolish the parking lot, we found 100+ year old brick pavers underneath the asphalt. Rather than destroying them, we decided to pull them up by hand and save them so that we can use them for a pathway to the building and other areas as needed.

Demolition

September 22nd, 2009 by Andrea No comments »

Keith, Chris, Brian, Austin and I did some demolition work inside the building. It made for some of the most difficult physical labor (ie. swinging a sledgehammer above our heads for hours at a time), but we had fun doing it! The upstairs space looks a lot bigger now that the walls are gone!
